Pitch a story

We take pitches from working independents, working writers, and people who've seen something up close.

What we're looking for

  • Stories — how a specific person built a practice, pivoted, broke through, or failed honestly. Concrete numbers and real names preferred.
  • Best practices — a tactic you've actually used, with the math, the scripts, and the failure modes. No platitudes.
  • Tool reviews — you've used the thing on real client work for at least three months and have opinions.
  • News — something happened that matters to independent providers and you can explain why in a paragraph.

What we don't run

  • Thought-leadership without specifics.
  • Pieces that are really just ads for your business.
  • Anything written by an AI that nobody fact-checked. If you used AI for a draft, tell us — we don't mind the tool, we mind the shortcut.

How to pitch

Email pitch@thebookedbrief.com with:

  1. A one-paragraph pitch — what the piece is about and why now.
  2. Who the reader is and what they'll do differently after reading.
  3. A sentence about who you are and why you can write this.
  4. One or two links to things you've written, if you're a working writer.

We read everything and reply within a week. If you don't hear back in ten days, bump the thread.

Payment

We pay for accepted pieces. Rates depend on length and category; we share the specific number before you start writing.
